1. Say the names of languages in Mandarin
2. Ask and answer questions about languages
Learning how to say the names of language is not that hard. As you may have noticed, you only need to add the root word 语yǔ (languague) right after the name of a country. In details, the names of languages are:
语言 yǔ yán (languagues)
英语 Yīng yǔ (English)
汉语 Hàn yǔ (Mandarin)
韩语 Hán yǔ (Korean)
日语 Rì yǔ (Japanese)
法语 Fǎ yǔ (French)
印尼语 Yìn ní yǔ (Indonesian)
瑞典语 Ruì diǎn yǔ (Swedish)
德语 Dé yǔ (German)
西班牙语 Xī bān yá yǔ (Spanish)
你会说什么语言？ Nǐ huì shuō shén me yǔ yán? (Which languages can you speak?)
我会说英语和日语。 Wǒ huì shuō Yīng yǔ hé Rì yǔ. ( I can speak English and Japanese.)
你会说汉语吗？ Nǐ huì shuō Hàn yǔ ma? (Can you speak Mandarin?)
一点点。 Yì diǎn dian. ( A little bit. )
I have made a set of cards on Quizlet (quizlet.com or download the app for phone or ipad) to help your child practice learning the languages.
Search for laoshilinda (all one word lower case) and then choose language.
The video here explains how to use Quizlet https://vimeo.com/113241642
You do not need to know any Mandarin yourself to use any of these resources.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
