1. Say the greetings in Mandarin
2. Sing greetings songs in Mandarin
3. Understand basic instructions used in the classroom
Learning the greetings in Mandarin is not too difficult. As you may have found, most of the greetings were made of two or three Chinese characters. In details, the greetings and instructions are:
你好 nǐ hǎo (hello)
老 师 lǎo shī ( teacher)
上 课了。 Shàng kè le. (Let's begin the class.)
下 课了。 Xià kè le. (Class is over.)
请问,......? Qǐng wèn, ......? (May I ask, .....?)
请坐。 Qǐng zuò. (Please sit down.)
站起来。 Zhàn qi lai. (Stand up.)
请跟我读。 Qǐng gēn wǒ dú. (Please read after me。)
很 好! Hěn hǎo! (Very good!)
对 不 起。 Duì bu qǐ. (I am sorry.)
没 关 系。 Méi guān xi. (That's alright.)
谢 谢你。 Xiè xie nǐ. (Thank you.)
不客气。 Bú kè qi. (You're welcome).
跟我来。 Gēn wǒ lái. (Follow me.)
加油。 Jiā yóu. (Keep it up.)
太棒了。 Tài bàng le. (Great.)
再 见。 Zài jiàn. (Good-bye.)
一会儿见。 Yí huìr jiàn. (See you later.)
I have made a set of cards on Quizlet (quizlet.com or download the app for phone or ipad) to help your child practice learning the classroom greetings.
Search for laoshilinda (all one word lower case) and then choose classroom greetings.
The video here explains how to use Quizlet https://vimeo.com/113241642
You do not need to know any Mandarin yourself to use any of these resources.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
