1. Say what they like/dislike in Mandarin
2. Ask and answer questions about preference
3. Write a short essay about one’s preference in Chinese characters
Learning how to ask and answer questions about preference is not that hard. As you may have noticed, you only need to add the word 不bù (no) right before the verb to mean “no”. In details, the words and sentences are:
喜欢 xǐ huan ( like)
不喜欢 bù xǐ huan ( do not like)
都 dōu ( all)
所有的食物 suǒ you de shí wù
( all the food)
你喜欢吃什么？ Nǐ xǐ huan chī shén me? ( What do you like to eat?)
我喜欢吃意大利面。 Wǒ xǐ huan chī Yì dà lì miàn. ( I like to eat pasta.)
你喜欢什么运动？ Nǐ xǐ huan shén me yùn dòng? ( Which sports do you like?)
我喜欢游泳。 Wǒ xǐ huan yóu yǒng.
( I like swimming.)
你喜欢什么颜色？ Nǐ xǐ huan shén me yán sè? ( What colours do you like?)
我喜欢蓝色。 Wǒ xǐ huan lán sè.
( I like blue.)
你喜欢什么动物？ Nǐ xǐ huan shén me dòng wu? ( Which animals do you like?)
我喜欢大熊猫。 Wǒ xǐ huan dà xióng māo. ( I like the giant panda.)
I have made a set of cards on Quizlet (quizlet.com or download the app for phone or ipad) to help your child practice learning this topic.
Search for laoshilinda (all one word lower case) and then choose preference.
The video here explains how to use Quizlet https://vimeo.com/113241642
You do not need to know any Mandarin yourself to use any of these resources.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
