- Learn the names of meat
- Make a food pyramid in Chinese characters
- Talk about healthy choices
Learning about the names of vegetables in Mandarin is not too difficult. As you may have discovered, there is a Chinese character肉ròu means “meat”as a base word. In details, the words of meat are:
肉 ròu （meat)
鸡肉 jī ròu (chicken meat)
牛肉 niú ròu (beef)
羊肉 yáng ròu (mutton)
猪肉 zhū ròu (pork)
鱼肉 yú ròu (fish meat)
牛排 niú pái (steak)
牛奶 niú nǎi (milk)
奶酪 nǎi lào (cheese)
牛油 niú yóu (butter)
I have made a set of cards on Quizlet (quizlet.com or download the app for phone or ipad) to help your child practice learning the this topic.
Search for laoshilinda (all one word lower case) and then choose food-rou, the meat group.
The video here explains how to use Quizlet https://vimeo.com/113241642
You do not need to know any Mandarin yourself to use any of these resources.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
