1.Say the names of shapes
2. Ask and answer questions about shapes
Learing shapes in Mandarin is not that hard. As you may have seen, there is a basic Chinese character 形xíng, which means “shape” that appears in every name of shapes. In details, the names of shapes are:
圆形 yuán xíng (circle)
三角形 sān jiǎo xíng (triangle)
长方形 cháng fāngxíng (rectangle)
正方形 zhèng fāng xíng (square)
椭圆形 tuǒ yuán xíng (oval)
星形 xīng xíng (star shape)
这是什么形状？ zhè shì shén me xíng zhuàng? (Which shape is this?)
zhè shì yúan xíng. (This is a circle.)
zhè shì shén me? (What is this?)
Wǒ bù zhī dao. ( I don't know.)
zhè shì sān jiǎo xíng hé zhèng fāng xíng. (These are a triangle and a square.)
I have made a set of cards on Quizlet (quizlet.com or download the app for phone or ipad) to help your child practice learning this topic.
Search for laoshilinda (all one word lower case) and then choose shapes.
The video here explains how to use Quizlet https://vimeo.com/113241642
You do not need to know any Mandarin yourself to use any of these resources.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
