As you may have known, the dates of Chinese festivals are folowing the Chinese lunar calendar. So this year, the Dragon Boat Festival ( May 5th on Chinese lunar calendar) falls on June 9th. In details, the words of Dragon Boat Festival are: 端午节 duān wǔ jié ( Dragon Boat Festival) 五月 wǔ yuè ( May) 初五 chū wǔ ( 5th of the month) 龙舟 lóng zhōu ( dragon boat) 赛龙舟 sài lóng zhōu ( dragon boat race) 粽子 zòng zi ( a wrap with rice) 包粽子 bāo zòng zi ( make a wrap with rice) 纪念 jì niàn ( commemorate) 诗人 shī rén ( poet) 屈原 Qu Yuan ( Qu Yuan, name of a poet) I have made a set of cards on Quizlet (quizlet.com or download the app for phone or ipad) to help your child practice learning this topic. Search for laoshilinda (all one word lower case) and then choose Dragon Boat Festival. The video here explains how to use Quizlet https://vimeo.com/113241642 You do not need to know any Mandarin yourself to use any of these resources. Please let me know if you have any questions. In G1 we went to the IT lab to practice learning sets on Quizlet.
