面包 miàn bāo - bread
面条 miàn tiáo - noodles
意大利面 yì dà lì miàn -pasta
炒面 chǎo miàn - fried noodles

汉堡包 hàn bǎo bāo - hamburger
饺子 jiǎo zi –dumpling
I have made a set of cards on Quizlet (quizlet.com or download the app for phone or ipad) to help your child practice learning this topic.
Search for laoshilinda (all one word lower case) and then choose food-mian, the flour group.
The video here explains how to use Quizlet https://vimeo.com/113241642
If your child can already say the names of food then:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primarylanguages/mandarin/food_and_drink/chinese_food/
will give some ideas on how to extend their vocubulary.
You do not need to know any Mandarin yourself to use any of these resources.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
